Announcing bankruptcy

As far as finance is concerned, bankruptcy is probably the lowest point in a company or an individual’s life. The dictionary defines bankruptcy as such, n. the state of being completely lacking in a particular quality or value. I’m not going to talk about declaring bankruptcy in financial terms, though. 🙂 There’s a popular term that’s being thrown around lately called “email bankruptcy”. This is usually done by someone who has accumulated (and slacked over) a lot of emails and has failed to respond to many of them.

Another go at writing on the web

Over the last few years, I feel the word “blog” and “blogging” are being slowly phased out thanks to the explosion of social media (and the associated ADHD). Like any millenial who grew with the web from the late 90s, I’ve explored many platforms online for writing (ranting) over the years and as with any media, viewership dictates whether a medium thrives or not. I hope this post would make a good justification of why blogging isn’t dead yet and will still continue to thrive.

The concept of Idea Debt

A couple of days before, I was perusing through my Feedly as part of my daily routine and an article about Idea Debt came up through Hacker News. It was a rather 3-4 minute read article that I put off and it lay there as a tab not to be returned to until today. I’ve had this habit of opening tabs of articles from different sources only to determine that they’re pretty long for me to read at that moment, only to be Pocket-ed and stowed away forever.

An epiphany moment

Occasionally, people stump into a perilous pit only to be surrounded by pessimistic and dismissive emotions. Almost every human would have gone through this phase at least once in their lifetime. There’s no single reason that led to such self doubt but a series of incidents which would be pretty hard to trace back. In such a phase, having a shoulder to bank on or a sounding board to lean on is amazing and I’m fortunate to have a few friends whom I can rely on to provide me with moral support.

The moment of Bhogi

The festival of Bhogi (போகி) in South India is celebrated on the last day of the month mArgazhi (மார்கழி). The first day of the next month, thai (தை) is celebrated across Tamil Nadu with much fanfare and is also well known as the festival of Pongal (பொங்கல்). Pongal is also known by other names such as Sankaranti across India. While the festival of Pongal is well-known, Bhogi is relatively unheard of by a majority of the Indians.

sudo reboot

Off late, I feel people have waned away from blogging thanks to more contemporary social networks some of whom insist on limiting you with 140 characters. While microblogging has been successful, I myself have been very erratic in using it as I have been with every other service. (Talk to me of ever being an early adopter and not being a constant user.) That has been the case with Twitter, Identi.

The Smart Phonedler

iGreetings! In today’s world, anything without an “i” as a prefix, hasn’t got much value to it. The ahambhaavam (sense of I – ego) has an altogether different meaning these days. It’s all about whether you possess a coveted iDevice or not and if you don’t, or if you are even remotely nonchalant about its existence in your neighbour’s pocket, you’ll be looked down with disdain. It’s hard to not be amused about how cellphone companies cash in on people’s ignorance and thrust on them, pieces of silicon with a highly polished LCD screen.

A beautiful January 2010

Pardon the gap since my last post! I was waiting for something substantial to write about! Pardon me if this post is reaaaally long! I couldn’t help it! So, a lot of things had happened since my last post! It had been a fantastic new year! We finally moved to our new house, having spent the new year at our previous house, watching the fun and frolic at Royal Orchid from our terrace!

Bachelors and houses

Hi folks, Well, so this is another of my rantings. Every bachelor would have certainly faced this problem. And we, as part of shifting our house, are certainly feeling the heat. First of all, let me answer some FAQs in your mind.. Why are we actually changing our house? The seven of us are living across three different houses. We are moving to a bigger 3BHK house. Where are we living presently?

ActionScript 30 and OOP

I’ve always been an active supporter of Flash and ActionScript and loved to develop interesting animations through Flash and AS2.0. The latest installment of Flash is the CS3 which includes a new version of ActionScript, ie 3.0. AS3.0 is completely Object Oriented and is very similar to Java & C++. So, programmers who have experience in either of these languages would have very less difficulty in learning AS3.0. In this blog, I’ll elucidate my experiences with OOP and AS3.
